New Mexico Medical Insurance Pool

Comprehensive health insurance through subsidized program-PPO plan with choice of deductible amount.

Eligibility
For people with certain medical conditions or who have been denied health insurance due to pre-existing condition, whose current or quoted rates are higher than qualifying rates, or who are losing their group coverage.

Cost
Depends on deductible and age. Premium reductions available for people under 400% of poverty.

New Mexico Health Insurance Alliance

Comprehensive health insurance through state-subsidized program-several plans to choose from. For groups of 2-50 employees or individuals meeting criteria.

Eligibility
For individuals—Had other coverage, not more than 63 days lapse, had 18 mos. of other coverage.

Cost
Depends—but usually about 9% higher than premiums for similar coverage in commercial market.

Santa Fe Project Access

Short-term help for uninsured people with medical problem. Only for six months.

Eligibility
Santa Fe County resident
Must have income below 200% of poverty–call to see if you qualify.

$10 enrollment fee.

Santa Fe County Indigent Fund

Helps with some medical bills for people without insurance. Covers ambulance, inpatient. hospital, non-profit primary care, psychiatric, alcohol or drug abuse.

Eligibility
Santa Fe County resident for at least 3 months. Must meet income and asset criteria. If you have a medical bill and no insurance, call to see if you qualify.

Cost
No cost. Does not cover private physician or for profit services.
